I don't know if this is only a recent thing, but lately when I click
on a link in an e-mail, if Firefox is open but minimized, it does not
maximize.
I've clicked again, then clicked on Firefox, and found each time I
clicked on the link, a tab opened at that location.
Is there a setting somewhere that keeps Firefox minimized when I do

A little known secret about mail.app's scripting: Instead of all that, use
this:
set senderName to extract name from senderNameAndAddress
set senderAddress to extract address from senderNameAndAddress
